Since 1st July, 110 boys and girls have enjoyed the Galatzó Public Estate through the Summer Camps. The initiative has been a success, with children aged 9 to 13 participating in a wide range of activities in which they have socialised, developed skills and enjoyed nature. Every Friday, participants say farewell in an emotional way after five intense days.

Calvià Town Hall has organised the Summer Camps 2024 in Es Galatzó for the first time, with a children's and youth educational recreational activities offer on the municipal property. The delegate councillor, Teresa Tena, came today to greet and say farewell to the third group and valued the experience: “it is the first time for the Youth Department to launch the camps. “We are very happy with all the experiences that young people are living, they come without their phones, they come to enjoy themselves.” Among the activities carried out, they have explored plants and flowers using the five senses through an unforgettable experience. In addition, the camps have included excursions to the Santa Ponça beach or the Es Capdellà swimming pool.

The camps have two main objectives: to provide a resource for work-life balance during summer holidays without school, and to promote the comprehensive development of children and adolescents through free time, leisure, the environment and coexistence. These camps are an opportunity to disconnect from the daily routine, get out of the comfort zone, all while having fun and making new friends. The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, has positively valued the initiative: "From the beginning of the legislature we had the objective of making the Galatzó estate available to Calvià citizens. One of the ways has been through these summer camps, which had not been held to date. We are about to begin the fourth week and both children and parents are happy, which encourages us to promote more youth group dynamics in the municipality."

Next week the Comte Mal Es Galatzó for teenagers from 13 to 16 years old begins, which will end on Friday 26th. In one of the sessions, the Youth Department is going to publicise the services offered in Es Generador. In addition, the Comte Mal camp proposal guarantees adventure and fun with activities such as sleeping under the stars and orienteering exercises on the mountains with maps and compasses, to be able to move without the need for Google Maps.

Both, children's and youth camps are held at the Es Galatzó refuge and estate, located on the Serra de Tramuntana, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The participation price has been 379€, and 189,50€ for Calvià residents registered before 1st May 2024.
