Security talks for IMSERSO tourists

 Wednesday 8th November 2017

THE LOCAL POLICE OF CALVIÀ FOR THE FIRST TIME GIVES TALKS TO IMSERSO TOURISTS TO AVOID THEM BECOMING CRIME VICTIMS

The Community Police of Calvià has initiated safety talks for IMSERSO tourists who visit the municipality during the tourist low season. The agents inform and give advice to the pensioners so that they can enjoy a safe and uneventful vacation. The number of attendees to these information sessions to date is about 300 people. Last week there was a talk at the Tobago Hotel, which was attended by 120 people, and tomorrow morning there will be another one at this same establishment.

The Local Police of Calvià offers these information sessions for the first time to provide older people with tools and to facilitate a real knowledge of the area they visit. In addition, they explain the instruments they have before any eventuality that may arise during their vacation. The communication strategy is based on a speech to share lived experiences and common objectives in terms of security. Especially important is all the information that is provided in relation to issues related to fraud in the purchase and sale of products and services. It is also important to publicise the prevention measures that can be taken in relation to crimes of theft and robbery.

The number of agents prepared and assigned to this task is currently 3 members of the Local Police and a police officer. It is expected that the beneficiaries will be all the IMSERSO groups that stay in hotels of the municipality of Calvià, at the moment they are the Tobago and Samos hotels. The Hotel Association of Palmanova-Magaluf has had a collaborative attitude from the beginning to facilitate these talks. MUNDIPLAN, the travel agency that sells the IMSERSO trips in the Balearic Islands, also collaborates in this campaign. Although these informative sessions are in November, in February they will increase significantly since the majority of IMSERSO trips to Mallorca are planned thereafter.
