Coinciding with the World Environmental Education Day, the Town Hall of Calvià, through the area of Medi Natural i Urbà (Natural and Urban Environment), has presented twelve natural itineraries 'kilometre zero' through the municipality, aimed mainly at schools as an alternative to outings by coach.

Eleven of the proposed outings start at points close to schools, and number 12 is held at the Galatzó public estate. All the routes have been linked to different aspects of interest such as: water use, the relationship between man and nature, the recovery of the forest after forest fires, the dune system, peasants, the defence of the territory, etc, and each outing proposes some educational activities to do during the journey.

The itineraries are as follows: puig de ses Abelles, Santa Ponça torrent, na Burguesa, cap Andritxol, the Santa Ponça coastline, font de la Vila, the Vall Verda, the puig de sa Morisca, the estate of Galatzó, es Salobrar, el Toro and the coast of Palmanova.

All the schools in the municipality, the management teams, teachers, the students' relatives of each centre, as well as one or several persons who are part of the Environmental Commission and others interested in participating in the development of the different itineraries participated in the selection phase of the routes. It has also had the collaboration of students and workers of the Youth Guarantee Programme RUTES DE CALVIÀ II, managed by the Town Hall of Calvià, through the IFOC, and subsidised by the SOIB and the European Social Fund.

On the website of Calvià Town Hall (through the link: www.calvia.com/calviaesmou) there is all the information for the population in general, interested in knowing these routes through Calvià, and it describes each of the routes and the educational activities that are contemplated in each outing.

The project presentation event, which took place at the Puig de sa Morisca archaeological park, was attended by the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Head of Education, Nati Francés, and the Environment Councillor, Francisca Muñoz, as well as representatives of the environmental commissions of the schools, families, management and teaching staff of the pre-education and primary schools of the municipality, and students and teachers of the RUTES DE CALVIÀ II programme, who have participated in the preparation of the routes.
