The Calvià Town Hall, through the IFOC (Employment and Training Institute of Calvià), launches today a 100% online training platform designed specifically for the citizens of Calvià so they can be trained without time restriction, avoiding to travel and at their own learning pace by using a computer or tablet. There are also no restrictions derived from the employment situation, since the platform is open to students and active or unemployed people.

It is the first online training platform in the municipality and is focused on skill learning. It includes computer science, management skills, customer service and sales and marketing courses, as well as specific courses for the commerce and hospitality sector. The platform is free, and registration is now available on online.ifoc.es. Technologically, it uses a state-of-the-art Moodle platform with an open code virtual campus, online with the educational tools used by universities, business schools, consultancies and public administrations. Access to training is simple and only requires to know how to surf the internet. In the plataform you can see the courses available along with information about each course and the dates of registration, start and end.

To encourage the use of this tool, a period of several months has been allowed for the completion of each course, as well as the help of a personal online tutor who will answer questions related to the use of the tool and will encourage the completion of the course and thus, obtain the certificate of attendance or use. Any person who enrolls can combine their personal and professional activity with the training offer.

The Town Hall prioritises education as one of the best strategies when it comes to finding and maintaining a job, as well as adapting to the demands of a changing labour market. Hence, not only since May 2015 the consistory has made a significant financial investment in developing face-to-face courses, but also, with this initiative it makes a firm commitment to adapt training to new demands of citizenship and the modernisation of training processes in the new times.
