Calvią says 'No means no!' to sexist assaults

 Tuesday 19th June 2018

NO MEANS NO! TO SEXIST ASSAULTS

Calvià has joined, together with Pollença, ses Salines and Andratx, the 'No means no!' campaign addressed specifically to the tourist sector (Calvià was already in the 'No means no!' global campaign). The accession has been signed in Alcúdia because it is the first municipality that has involved the campaign in the tourism sector.

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, stated that the municipality attends the good practices banks, such as the 'No means no!', to incorporate them as it is not just another campaign, but a campaign for the dignity of people. He stressed the importance of public administrations to extend this idea and this conviction to all sectors and, therefore, also to the tourism sector, "so that our residents and all those who come to see us know that in our municipalities we have very clear what values are, the dignity of people. And that having a municipality free of sexist aggressions is not only an added value to the dignity of the municipality, but it is a fundamental right of the people that must be protected".

The presentation event was also attended by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, the mayor of Alcúdia (host of the event), the mayoress of Andratx, the mayor of Pollença and the mayor of ses Salines.
