'European Mobility Week 2018' Activities

EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK 2018

From 16th to 23rd September, Calvià will participate in the European Mobility Week, a campaign to raise public awareness on the benefits of using sustainable transport such as public transport, the bicycle, walking and carpooling. The motto chosen by the European Commission for this year is "Mix & Move". The European Union encourages us to promote shared mobility solutions.


These are the main activities organised in Calvià:


Sunday 23rd September from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Magaluf (Aqualand grounds) 


ELECTRIC BICYCLE CIRCUIT, FOR ADULTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE.
To be able to verify the advantages of the light vehicles transport such as the electric bicycle.


The Calvià Town Hall is a partner of the Steve project (Smart-Taylored L-category Electric vehicle demonstration in hEtherogeneous urbanusecases) approved in the H2020 green vehicle programme call. This initiative is framed within the field of transport and electric mobility and aims to evaluate and analyse the market and the acceptance of light electric vehicles (Levs) demonstrating their viability and generating greater social awareness.Calvià participates in this project with the aim of promoting smart mobility (Smart) to improve the life quality of citizens and be more respectful with the environment. The light electric vehicle chosen by the Ajuntament de Calvià under the Steve is the electric bicycle. Thus, during the European mobility week,
electric bicycles will be made available to people who would like to try them in a safe and secure environment on the Aqualand circuit on 23rd September from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.


Bicycle and Walking Day through the Passeig de Calvià.


The activity consists of a Bicycle and Walking Day through the Passeig de Calvià, departing from different points of the municipality and arriving at the parking lot of Aqualand (Magaluf). You can choose between a walking itinerary and two cycling routes:

 Bike itinerary from Peguera: departure at 10 a.m. from Torà beach parking lot, stop at the Galatzó residential area at 10.30 a.m. and arrival at the Aqualand parking (Magaluf) at about 10.45 a.m. Passeig de Calvià route: 8.3 km.


Bike itinerary from Illetes:
departure at 10 a.m. from the Illetes car park, stop at the Costa d'en Blanes car park (next to Ágora school), stop at the Palmanova car park (AMADIP) and arrival at the Aqualand car park around 10.45 a.m. Passeig de Calvià route: 9.3 km. 

Walking and Nordic walking itinerary: route along the Passeig Calvià from El Toro.


Introduction to the Nordic walking technique for beginners at 9 a.m. at Plaça Migdia.

Departure at 9.30 a.m. from Plaça Migdia, stop at Mussol street in Son Ferrer (in front of EROSKI) and arrival at Aqualand (4.9 km). Organised by: Nordic Walking Palma.

 Registrations: until 21st September.

Activities for adults and children


There will be activities for the whole family at the Aqualand car park between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.:

Bike circuit for U10 year-old children

Circuit designed for children and monitored by instructors, which will end at 12.30 p.m.
Organised by: Club Ciclista de Calvià.
 


The Ephemeral Library
 

You will find a corner for reading, recommended bibliography and specialised in issues related to sustainable mobility.
Organised by: Servei de Biblioteques (IMEB) Libraries Service.
 


Games LILA A score of games and a carousel built with reused materials.


Robotics and radio
workshops and a circuit enabled for roller skates, inline skates and skateboards. 

Capoeira exhibition, zumba master class and music.
Organised by: Joventut (Youth Service)


Information about the European STEVE programme and test circuit for electric bicycles.


Children's road safety education park of the Consell de Mallorca.


A stand with municipal information (Youth activities, transport to the University, etc.).

th and 19th September from 4 to 7.30 p.m.


Monday 17th September
"Es Salobrar". 4.8-km round route along the Passeig Calvià

It is an easy and round route along the Passeig Calvià. Meeting and departing point from the public parking at Góngora St. in Magaluf and arrival at the same place of departure.

 Approximate duration of the route: 1.5 h.

 Wednesday 19th September

“Rodeando la Vall Verda” (Surrounding the Verda Valley). 8.7-km round route

An easy and round route. Meeting and departing point from the Medi Natural i Urbà office (es Capdellà) and arrival at the same point. Approximate duration of the route: 2 h

 These are easy and suitable routes for all ages.

Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
