SA RUA DE CALVIÀ 2019

After a magnificent spring evening, Sa Rua de Calvià has taken place today! The streets of the village have been filled with people, colours, music and fun thanks to the almost 800 participants.

The prizes have been shared out into three categories: individual and couples (3 participants), groups (9 participants) and floats (6 participants).

The majority of groups, accompanied by lively music and choreographies, have pleasantly surprised the members of the jury. Xaranga Bratitzava, Circus Strómboli and Batucada del Comte Mal, which closed the parade with their drums, have accompanied and entertained the parade.

The large number of attendees have constantly encouraged the participants, turning Sa Rua de Calvià, once again, into a great participatory and fun party.

The jury was formed by:

-Elena Cifre - Artist born in Mallorca and known in Calvià for her hyperrealistic portraits of relevant people from society, culture and sports. Currently, she exhibits her drawings "Retratos de Baleares" at the Calvià Town Hall's exhibition hall. She is in the jury providing knowledge and assessments from the artistic field.

-José Ángel Vargas - Dance teacher at the Calvià Cultural Centres in the modalities of salsa and bachata. One of the most veteran instructors and with more ongoing lessons at the six cultural centres. He is in the jury providing knowledge and assessments on the field of dance, expression, movement and choreographies.

-Eva Molina – Calvià businesswoman who owns a hairdressing and styling chain that currently has several establishments in the municipality. She is in the jury providing knowledge and assessments on the aesthetics and composition of the styles and costumes of the participants.

They met as soon as the parade ended and, after a lot of discussion, they chose the winners of this edition, based on dances, costumes and originality, as well as the desire to have fun. A total of 5,060 € have been awarded in prizes in cash and prizes in kind for the individuals, courtesy of Agustino Ramos S.L. from the Lekkerland España group, as well as tickets for PalmaJump, for Ice Bar and hairdressing and aesthetic products from Studio Doss.

The cultural facilitators prepared entertainment on stage during the jury's deliberation, to make the wait more pleasant.

After the awards ceremony, attendees had fun, one more year, at the big party organised in the marquee set up in the municipal car park, where they were able to enjoy the music of DJ Toni Bauzà.
