Bee sanctuary at the Galatzó public estate

Friday 29th March 2019

A sanctuary for bees at the Galatzó estate

The fifth-year students of the CEIP (Primary Education School) in Son Caliu have planted an aromatic flower garden at the public estate of Galatzó.

This activity, which consists of creating a sanctuary for bees, has been carried out with the coordination of Calvià Town Hall, through the Environment Department, and with the collaboration of IBANAT and the beekeeper who takes care of the bees at the public farm. They have provided some of the plants such as myrtle (murta), camomile (camamilla de muntanya), thyme (frígola de Sant Joan), and steppe (estepa joana).

A bee sanctuary is an apicultural settlement in a forest land, ready for the regeneration and natural conservation of forests and bees, essential insects for life.
