Paseo Calvią autonomous section reception

Wednesday 4th December 2019

CALVIÀ RECEIVES THE 6 KM OF THE PASEO CALVIÀ THAT WERE OF BALEARIC GOVERNMENT OWNERSHIP

The Regional Ministry of Mobility and Housing has invested 500,000 euros to repair the deficiencies of the walking promenade section in terms of lighting, street furniture and pavement

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the Regional Minister for Mobility and Housing, Marc Pons, signed this morning the agreement to receive the 6 kilometres of the Paseo Calvià that were still of regional ownership and that, with today's signature, they will go to municipal hands.

The mayor thanked the Regional Minister and his team for the work that has been done to make the transfer of the walking promenade's section with the deficiencies repaired. In this regard, they explained that the repairs have focused on lighting, street furniture and pavement issues, tasks that the regional minister has recalled that have involved an investment of 500,000 euros.

Alfonso Rodríguez Badal highlighted the importance of receiving the walking promenade's stretch that goes from Cala Figuera roundabout to Peguera. He explained that it is an emblematic axis for the municipality because it achieves territorial cohesion by joining almost all areas of the municipality, allowing a sustainable and friendly mobility.

On his behalf, Marc Pons recalled that before the transfer they have had to resolve the deficiencies that occurred with the construction of the Palmanova-Andratx highway, which was part of the walking promenade's stretch, so today a problem has been solved pending the highway's transfer to the Consell de Mallorca.

The Paseo Calvià is a pedestrian road about 30 km long that covers practically the entire municipality of Calvià.

The event was attended by the deputy mayor of Infrastructure, Juan Recasens; the councillor of Infrastructure, Alfonso Molina, and the general director of Mobility and Land Transport, Jaume Mateu.
