MEETING AT CALVIÀ TOWN HALL WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENT OF THE CONSELL DE MALLORCA

Calvià Town Hall held a meeting this morning with the Department of Sustainability and Environment of the Consell de Mallorca, within the framework of the set of visits being made by the insular institution to Mallorca Town Halls.

On behalf of Calvià Town Hall, the meeting was attended by the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal; the deputy mayor responsible for Calvià 2000, Marcos Pecos; the deputy mayor and the councillor for Environment, Rafael Sedano and Marga Plomer; and the general director of Sustainable Development, Francisco Giménez. On behalf of the Consell de Mallorca, the meeting was attended by the councillor of Sustainability and Environment, Aurora Ribot; the general director of Environment, José Manchado; and the general director of Waste, Patricia Arbona.

In the course of the meeting, the island councillor informed that the new refuge that will be located at the old pigsties of the public estate of Galatzó will soon be tendered, and that it will be an essential part of the 'pedra en sec' route layout in Calvià.

Likewise, she pointed out that the project of a new organic matter treatment plant, included in the Waste Master Plan guidelines, is a priority for the insular institution. Regarding the selective collection and treatment of organic matter, Aurora Ribot has reported that the indexes have substantially improved, coinciding, both administrations, in the importance of raising public awareness in order to achieve the objectives set by Europe, the Sectorial Master Plan and the Waste Law.
