THE REI EN JAUME AWARDS ARE CALLED FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR ADDING COMIC AND THEATRE MODALITIES INTO THE ALREADY EXISTING PHOTOGRAPHY CATEGORY

For the third consecutive year the recovered Rei En Jaume Awards are called, this being their 18th edition. The purpose of the call is to promote artistic creation in different disciplines, promote the cultural activity of the municipality and make it known from various aspects: historical, geographic, recreational or natural.
A theme is established in each call with the aim of generating coherence and linkage between the different categories. The works presented must conform to the common theme, either literally or metaphorically, except in the Theatre category, in which the subject can be free.
For the year 2020, the chosen theme is the neighborhood in Calvià, understood as a link that unites the residents of a municipality between them, including urban planning, shops, public areas, as well as the uses and customs of residents and community life.
As a novelty, for this edition, two categories have been added to the already existing Photography category: Comic and Theatre. Another novelty with regards to previous editions is that minors will be allowed to participate, always with written authorisation from the legal guardians. On the other hand, the jury will assess the presence of ecological, environmental respect, sustainability or recycling and visually or argumentatively values in the projects presented.
The deadline for presentation of the participating works in the Comic and Photography categories will be from 15th to 26th June. The deadline for the presentation of the participating works in the Theatre category will be from 13th to 24th July. The last week of August will be the opening of the exhibitions and the awards ceremony will take place within the rei En Jaume Festivities' activity programme.
The endowments are as follows:
- Rei En Jaume Comic Award: 1.200 € + publication of the work + 100 copies for the author/authoress.
- Rei En Jaume Photography Award: 1.000 € + possibility of an exhibition at the Town Hall with the work.
- Rei En Jaume Theatre Award: 3.000 € + theatrical residence + premiere with box office for the company.
