Thursday, 14th May 2020

The SOIB Visibles 2019 - 2020 programme ends, which has offered work to 22 long-term unemployed people

For 6 months, they have mainly carried out maintenance / preservation works on buildings or public areas in different departments of the Town Hall

The SOIB Visibles 2019-2020 programme (Fiscal Year 2019) has ended in May, which for 6 months has offered work to 22 people over 45 years old, who were in a situation of long-term unemployment, with the aim of improving both, their employability and possibilities of later labour insertion. The Department of Social Development, Childhood and Senior Citizens also collaborates in the project in the information and referral actions of people with social vulnerability in the municipality, so that they can participate in these initiatives.
In this SOIB Visibles call, the Town Hall has carried out two projects: Calvià Integra 2019, through the Calvià Training and Employment Institute (IFOC), which has allowed the hiring of 20 people, and Noves Oportunitats II, through the Llar de Calvià (Senior Citizens Home of Calvià), which has facilitated the hiring of 2 more people.
Through these programmes, projects have been launched in various municipal areas such as the Calvià Sports Institute (ICE), in which they have carried out maintenance works on the gardened areas of sports venues; the Natural and Urban Environment Department, developing maintenance activities for the Galatzó public estate; the Maintenance Department, with preervation works and painting of municipal buildings, beaches, public areas and urban furniture in the municipality; the Citizen Participation and Youth Department, with improvement works at the premises of the area and support for holding events; and finally, in the Senior Citizens Home of Calvià, carrying out work in the centres for the elderly.
At the end of the projects, the IFOC makes available to all the people participating in the SOIB Visibles programme the necessary resources to promote employment, amongst which is the Municipal Employment Agency, the labour and entrepreneurship guidance services and the training actions.
