From 15th June to 24th July, families in Calvià will be able to submit applications to access aids for the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, which this year introduces novelties, some of which respond to the situation that the Covid-19 crisis has caused in some homes in the municipality.

The first of these novelties is that the aid to primary and secondary education and vocational training cycles is expanded, thus, all stages are covered since in previous years the aid was only intended for compulsory primary and secondary education.

Another novelty included is the change in criteria regarding family income. In previous calls, the family income was assessed from the fiscal year of the previous year. This year, due to the decrease in income in many households due to the Covid-19 crisis, the assessment will be made on the basis of net monthly income at the time of application submission.

On the other hand, the announcement of aids for the 2020-2021 academic year includes extraordinary systems to send applications in the event that the state of alarm continues and the expenditure justification is simplified.

These aids are aimed at subsidising part of the expenses that families, with students enrolled in public centres, have at the beginning of the school year, such as the purchase of schoolbooks, digital textbooks, curricular material, computer infrastructure, etc.

The amounts range from 110 euros per student in Early Childhood Education and lower primary courses, to 225 euros for students in upper secondary, High School and Vocational Training courses. The Calvià Town Hall allocates a budget of 126,910 euros for these aids.
