INFORMATIVE NOTE FROM THE LOCAL POLICE OF CALVIÀ
THE LIFEGUARD SERVICE AT BEACHES AND COVES HAS BEEN EXPANDED TO INCREASE BATHERS' SAFETY
The Police continues with restriction measures controls of the state of alarm
With the beginning of June, the working hours of the 41 lifeguards who work on the Calvià coast are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.. There are four lifeguards in Magaluf; three in Son Maties, Palmanova, Santa Ponça and Palmira; two in Illetes, Oratori, Es Carregador, Penyes Rotges, Peguera and Torà; and one in Bugambilia, Cala Comtessa, Cala Xinxell, Portals Nous, Costa d'en Blanes, Son Caliu, Cala Vinyes, Cala Falcó, Portals Vells, Cala Blanca and Cala Fornells.
The municipal rescue, first-aid and lifeguard service will be maintained throughout the Summer season. In addition, while the state of alarm remains, the service also supports the security forces to comply with preventive measures in the confinement de-escalation. Thus, although bathing is allowed in phase 2, social distancing, control of density and of the activities that citizens can carry out are still necessary. In fact, last weekend, access to the Bugambilia, Oratori and Portals Nous coves had to be closed due to excess capacity. Also Cala Comtessa, that on Monday was over-occupied again.
On the other hand, the Calvià Local Police has drafted nine administrative reports for breaching the restrictions of the state of alarm last week, of which three have been to establishments for carrying out activities not allowed inside. A party was also located in the El Toro military zone with fourteen young people. Six reports were due to bottle parties and ten for possession of narcotic/psychotropic drugs. In total in relation to the state of alarm, the agents have filed 1,483 complaints.
The Local Security Board in Calvià today has shared the data from the previous week and is preparing for the future arrival of tourists. In this morning's meeting, the deputy mayor, Nati Francés Gárate; the general director of General Services and Police, José Antonio Fernández Ballesta; the secretary of the City Council, Joan Castañer Alemany; the Chief of Police, Paco Darder Kittila; Police Major José Antonio Navarro Muñoz; and the commander of the Civil Guard post in Calvià, Lt. Manuel Martínez Palomo have taken part.
The Calvià Town Hall insists that it is everyone's responsibility to follow the social health regulations and recommendations while the de-escalation process lasts. The council asks everyone to respect the time slot of those over seventy, who have between ten and twelve noon and between seven and eight in the afternoon reserved for them.
