New platform for volunteering and entities

 Friday 4th December 2020

CALVIÀ LAUNCHES THE “VOLUNTEER CONNECTION” PLATFORM TO PROMOTE COLLABORATION BETWEEN VOLUNTEERS AND MUNICIPAL ENTITIES

This initiative was born with the vocation of “acting as a bridge” and supporting associations that carry out volunteer activities and people with a vocation to participate in this volunteer service

Coinciding with the Balearic Islands Volunteer Week 2020, the Calvià Town Hall, through the Department of Citizen Participation and Youth (Participación Ciudadana y Juventud), has presented “Volunteer Connection, “ a new initiative that will soon be up and running in the municipality and that is being set up as a point of information and consolidation of the volunteer network in Calvià.

The Councillor for Citizen Participation and Youth, Marga Plomer, explained that “Volunteer Connection” will be a platform and a telephone service - in short, a tool to inform people who contact the Town Hall to express their interest in committing themselves to carrying out tasks with a clear will and vocation of general interest and service to society, both in situations of vulnerability, exclusion or isolation, as well as in other areas such as the protection of the environment, heritage, culture, and sport or international cooperation, among others.

The new platform will be a bridge that will make it easier for all people interested in volunteering to be channelled to the entities, whilst at the same time supporting the entities themselves so that they can catch up on what the new Autonomous Volunteer Law requires, in terms such as the development of volunteer plans, training, etc.

On the occasion of the presentation to the entities and associations of the municipality, recently, a Round Table was held in the Es Generador youth building in which two of the entities that work with volunteerism in the municipality participated and explained their experiences: “Fundació Deixalles” and “SOS Animales.”

The event was also attended by the Deputy Mayor for Participation, Rafel Sedano, the General Director of Participation and Volunteering of the Balearic Government, Maria Amengual, who explained the updates in the Volunteering Law, and the General Director of Participation of Calvià , Bel Sureda, as well as entities of the municipality which participated electronically.
