FIRST CALVIÀ VOLUNTEERING MEETING
The Connexió Voluntariat Calvià Platform takes its first steps with neighbourhood entities and people interested in volunteering
Calvià Town Hall, through the Citizen Participation and Youth Department, held the first online Calvià volunteering meeting, to present the Connexió Voluntariat Platform, a municipal initiative to promote both, collaboration between volunteers and entities and the creation of a volunteering network.
The meeting took place on 26th March and about twenty people participated, including representatives of volunteering organisations, neighbourhood associations and people interested in volunteering.
The councilwoman for Citizen Participation and Youth, Marga Plomer, explained that "The objective of this meeting is to offer a participatory and collaborative space to volunteering organisations, associations and people interested in contributing to the improvement of the municipality." Plomer considers that the collaboration of citizens with the entities of the municipality contributes decisively to building a more friendly and supportive Calvià and to improving the living conditions of many people, adding that "we are committed to quality, committed and trained volunteering and that with this initiative we will achieve a greater organisation with the sector and bring volunteering closer to the youth".
During the meeting, the strategy for 2021 was presented and the pilot project of comprehensive support to municipal entities in their transition and consolidation as volunteering entities was presented, with the aim of having a more trained and committed volunteers.
