CALVIÀ PUBLIC TRANSPORT IMPROVES SCHEDULES AND ROUTE FOR IES CALVIÀ AND IES BENDINAT STUDENTS
The Consorci de Transports, at the request of Calvià Town Hall, modifies the L123 line that will have a new bus stop in Galatzó and adapts to the centres' entry and exit times
As of Monday 20th September, the IES Calvià and IES Bendinat students will be able to use the TIB (Transports de les Illes Balears) as transport to their educational centres.
Line 123 will have two new bus stops in Galatzó so that students can get to IES Calvià and will delay its first service, towards Cas Català, by 15 minutes to pick up students from different areas going to IES Bendinat.
Currently, the School Bus service offered by the Conselleria d’Educació i Formació Professional covers all students who go to the reference institute according to the zoning of the municipality. This improvement in the TIB regular transport will complete this service for all the IES students.
It will be free of charge with the intermodal card as of 17th September, for people under 16 years of age in all public transport in Mallorca. With these changes, students will be able to benefit throughout their compulsory education stage.
It should be noted that public transport lines in Calvià have experienced, since 1st January this year, a significant increase in frequencies and lines thus allowing better commutes between Calvià areas and the connections with Palma and the rest of the island.
In addition, Calvià Town Hall and the Consorci de Transports de Mallorca work continuously to provide a better transport service to the municipality. Both, the connection to Son Espases and the schedules for workers in tourist areas were improved last year and, now, schedules and route have been improved for students in obligatory secondary education centres.
