Mayor's meeting with the UK ambassador

Tuesday 3rd May 2022

MEETING BETWEEN THE MAYOR OF CALVIÀ AND THE AMBASSADOR OF THE UNITED KINGDOM

The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the United Kingdom Ambassador to Spain, Hugh Elliott, met this morning within the framework of the close collaboration that exists between both institutions, to analyse the 2022 season. The meeting was also attended by the British consul, Lloyd Milen; the deputy mayor for Sports and International Community, Eva Serra; the deputy mayor for Police, Nati Francés, and the general director for Tourism, Xavier Pascuet.

The mayor has expressed to the ambassador the will to continue going hand in hand, in a season in which a significant recovery of the British market is expected and in which there will no longer be the limitations of the previous two years due to the pandemic. In this sense, Alfonso Rodríguez has reiterated that the Town Hall, together with the Govern and the Consell de Mallorca, will be inflexible in the application of the decree of excesses, for which he has also insisted on the importance of being able to count on reinforcements from the Civil Guard, with which the local Police of Calvià collaborates closely.

Calvià Town Hall and the British Embassy have been working together for years with campaigns, both at origin and for the tourism that visits the municipality. The mayor has thanked this permanent understanding for the benefit of the destination.
