LARGE AND SINGLE-PARENT FAMILY PROGRAMMES IN CALVIÀ GENERATE SAVINGS OF MORE THAN 93.000 EUROS FOR FAMILIES
94,3% of single-parent families are headed by women
Calvià Town Hall has prepared a joint report to evaluate the programmes for large and single-parent families during 2021. According to the data of the document, coordinated by the department of Social Development and in which six other municipal departments and autonomous bodies participate, large and single-parent families in Calvià have saved 93.846,79 euros throughout 2021, thanks to these two programmes.
In the municipality of Calvià, 652 large families and 53 single-parent families are certified, a title, in the latter case, issued by the Consell de Mallorca, since October 2020, unlike that of large families, which has been a public policy for decades. Regarding single-parent families, the report reveals that of the 53 certified families, 94,3% are headed by women, compared to 5,7%, headed by men.
The programmes for large and single-parent families in Calvià include various bonuses and discounts for these family units in access to municipal public services. The greatest economic impact is generated by the bonuses for large families in the payment of real estate tax, which adds up to more than 84.000 euros of bonuses. The sewage and water services and the activities offered by the Calvià Sports Institute, the Culture and Youth departments and the Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries represent almost 10.000 euros in discounts for these families throughout 2021.
