Thursday 23rd June 2022

CALVIÀ IS AGAIN, WITH 15 Q FLAGS, THE MUNICIPALITY WITH THE MOST BEACHES WITH THE QUALITY LABEL AWARDED BY THE SPANISH INSTITUTE FOR QUALITY TOURISM

The mayor has collected the 15 flags in the act chaired by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism that has taken place today in Madrid

Mayor's statements

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has collected today the 15 Q for Quality flags that correspond to Calvià, in an act presided over by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, held in Madrid, and with the attendance of the secretary of State for Tourism, Fernando Valdés, and the president of the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE), Miguel Mirones.

One more year, Calvià is the municipality with the most Q flags on its beaches, followed by Cartagena, which has achieved 12, as was highlighted during the act. Alfonso Rodríguez Badal has pointed out that these distinctions are a "recognition of the joint work that is done to guarantee quality in the services, maintenance, conservation and accessibility of our beaches", as well as an encouragement to continue to improve the beaches of Calvià.

The 15 beaches with the Q flag are: Buganvilla, Illetes balneario, Cala Contesa, Portals Nous, s'Oratori, es Carregador (Palmanova), Palmanova, Son Maties, Magaluf, Cala Vinyes, Ses Penyes Roges (El Toro), Santa Ponça, the Romana (Peguera) and Palmira (Peguera).

The Q flags are awarded by the ICTE, the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality, dependent on the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, based on the internationally recognised ISO quality standard.

Annually, in order to achieve the Q flags, the beaches of Calvià must go through an audit in which compliance with the established requirements and parameters is verified, both in terms of management and control of the procedures and work carried out on the beaches. That is to say, an exhaustive control of the comprehensive management of the beach services is carried out.
