The Town Hall has set up, for an indefinite period, in the basement, a collection of 81 works of contemporary art, donated by the "Grupo Pro Arte y Cultura"

Calvià inaugurates a permanent exhibition area.

Next Friday, 5th June at 20.00h. at Calvià Town Hall, the inauguration of the exhibition and the presentation of the catalogue of the collection of "Grupo Pro Arte y Cultura en Calvià” (Calvià's pro art and culture group), will take place.   The works of art have been donated to the consistory by this group of artists, represented by the artist and patron, Mayte Spínola and sponsored by S.A.R. Ana de Orleans, duquesa de Calabria (Her Royal Highness Ana of Orleans, Duchess of Calabria).

The collection of  contemporary art work donated to Calvià Town Hall consists of 81 pieces from 78 artists from different parts of Spain, although the majority of them live in Madrid.  Paintings, sculptures, photography, videos, and video installation will all be there from Friday onwards, in this eclectic exhibition, which can be enjoyed during an indefinite period in the Exhibition Area and the whole of the basement  of the Town Hall.

Thus Calvià Town Hall continues to demonstrate its unconditional support for culture and art, and, thanks to the generous donation from “Grupo Pro Arte y Cultura” (pro art and culture group), now opens the door to contemporary art.  The pieces form an ample panorama of present day art, including geometric or informal abstract,  imagining, photography, collage, drawing, engraving, sculpture, video creation, etc.  Without doubt an ample mirror of today's creative handicraft, which the Town Hall, sharing the philosophy of the artists of the pro art and culture group, of bringing art close to citizens, makes this possible for all residents and visitors by creating this permanent exhibition area.
