The Mayor of Calvià and the Minister for Presidency laid the first stone.

The Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado, and the Minister for Presidency and Sports, Rosa Puig, laid the first stone of Calvià's future residential home for the elderly.

The old people's home will be built on a site of 12,000 square metres in Costa d'en Blanes, which the Town Hall transferred to the Balearic Government. The building consists of a ground floor and two others, with indoor and outdoor garden areas, as well as an outdoor car park. It will offer 120 residential places and 30 day places. The total constructed surface area will be 5,330 square metres, and the work is to be completed in one year.

The Mayor of Calvià emphasized that the residential home is a project that comes under the Calvià al día investment programme, whose overall budget is 44 million euros, which pays particular attention to the elderly people in the municipality. Evidence of this is the fact that besides the new residential home, all of the centres for senior citizens are to be improved, and, in fact, work has already commenced on some of them.
