The consistory joins the “European Mobility Week” for the fifth consecutive year with the carrying out of various activities.
The Calvià Town Hall, from the Environment Department and through the Calvià for the Climate Office, joins for the fifth consecutive year, the “European Mobility Week” campaign, which will take place between the 16th and 22nd September, as well as the campaign “The City without my car”, which will take place on 22nd September, carrying out various activities, with the aim of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere and the pollution in Calvià.
Projects or activities to be developed within the 2012 “European Mobility Week”:
1. Bicycle Ride Day along the Calvià walk path (23rd September as from 9.30h)
Within the initiative “The City without my car”, a Bicycle Ride Day is organized with three itineraries for the general public; a child´s circuit, a short route (6 km) and a long one (10,5 km), all of them starting at 9:30h from the Aqualand (Magaluf) Parking, where the provisioning centre will be set up and where the registration of the participants will take place.
2. Adaptation of municipal petrol vehicles to GLP.
With the aim of promoting the use of non pollutant vehicles in the municipality, we foresee to adapt a total of six vehicles of the Local Police to GLP in 2012, this will mean that approximately 10 tons less of CO2 will be emmitted to the atmosphere every year. The implementation of this measure fits with the 2012 Mobility Week´s motto "Participate in your city´s mobility plans: move in the correct direction!".
3. Sustainable Mobility Conferences (27th and 28th October at the Country Club in Santa Ponsa)
Exhibition conferences and test of “clean” vehicles (electric, hybrid, natural gas and GLP fuel vehicles), and good business practice within the Sustainable Mobility´s framework. We will count with the participation of 20 pioneer companies within the Sustainable Mobility, which will exhibit their products at the presentations, which will take place during the weeekend, and where the attending public will have the opportunity to test the vehicles displayed.
The open and free conferences are addressed to all the citizens of the municipality and Majorca and to all those companies with big vehicle fleets.
