The activity will take place in a forest area of Peguera on the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th and in which young people of the municipality and tourists will participate.
The Calvià for the Climate office, the Calvià Town Hall´s department of Environment and the Regional Ministry for Environment have organised four reforestation days at the Peguera´s affected area in 2011 and which will count with the participation of pupils of different schools of the municipality and tourists.
The main objectives of the activity, which will take place from tomorrow and until the forthcoming Friday 18th, are to reforest the maximum surface affected by the fire with the aim of mantaining the area´s landscape attractiveness, recuperate the environmental value and the capacity of absorption of CO2 of the lost forest mass. Also, it is expected the education and the awareness of the volunteer participants within the natural heritage.
It is expected the participation of approximately 240 people amongst the pupils of the public schools of Puig de Sa Morisca, Puig de Sa Ginesta and Ses Rotes Velles, the pupils of the IES Calvià (Secondary Obligatory Education), after their adhesion to the programme, and tourists who are now visiting the area of Peguera.
The Hotel Associations of Santa Ponça, Peguera-Cala Fornells and Palmanova-Magaluf, Hotelbeds and Ultramar collaborate in said reforestation week.
