182 foreign citizens living in Calvià receive diplomas for free spanish courses given by the municipal council.

182 diplomas for foreing residents.

The Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado; and the councillor responsible for tourism and foreign citizens, Kate Mentink, have presented diplomas to the 182 foreign citizens living in Calvià who have followed free Spanish courses given by the municipal council this year.
These
courses, specially for foreign citizens living in the municipality, have received an excellent response from the group and, so, from 1 September new information will be given out, at the Office for Attention to Foreign Citizens in the lobby at the city council headquarters, about applying for places on the fourth set of courses.
On the courses, with classes twice a week at the Son Ferrer, El Toro and Portals cultural centres, three levels have been established, depending on the degree of knowledge. So, of the total number of students who have taken part, 109 have made up the 9 basic level groups; 68 have formed the 5 intermediate level groups and 5 the top level group.
The establishment of these courses kept an election promise and the ruling group is very satisfied with the response they have had. It is planned that, for the next academic year, Catalan courses aimed at this group should also be offered through the IFOC.
