The Calvià Town Hall informs the Regional Ministry of the necessity of improving the CEIP of the municipality.
The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, held a meeting with the Regional Minister for Education and University, Martí March, to inform him of the necessity of upgrading the infrastructures of the 11 Pre-School and Primary Education centres of the municipality.
The Mayor, who attended the meeting accompanied by the Deputy Mayor for Education, Nati Francés, held a meeting at the beginning of the legislature with the headmasters of the Pre-school and Primary Education centres of Calvià to first hand know the state of the centres and their main demands. At today's meeting, a dossier with all these demands was handed over to the Regional Minister, and they agreed that technical experts of the Regional Ministry will visit the area of Calvià to analyse and prioritise actions, a priorisation which will be undertaken with each of the school communities, so that the centres themselves can decide which actions are the most necessary.
They are, basically, actions focused on the accessibility of the centres, emergency exits, or the adaptation of toilets and spaces such as playgrounds, amongst others. From the Town Hall it has been requested the elaboration of a 4-year planning in order to undertake these actions, giving priority to the most urgent.
The Mayor expressed his gratitude for the receptiveness of the Regional Minister who is aware of Calvià's commitment with the Education, with pioneer actions started such as the Programme of Educational Reinforcement in the Pre-school and Primary Education centres, REIP, and in the CREC (Educational Reinforcement Centres of Calvià), or the creation of municipal nurseries for children between 0 and 3 years old.
On his behalf, the Mayor recognised the effort undertaken by the Regional Ministry at the beginning of the school year with regards to the improvement of the workforce, with the increase of 365 pre-school and primary education teachers in the Balearics, which has meant, also, an improvement for Calvià.
