The Mayor, within the frame of the World Travel Market Tourist Fair of London, has signed a collaboration agreement to deseasonalise the tourist season.
The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, within the frame of the World Travel Market Tourist Fair of London, has signed a collaboration agreement to deseasonalise the tourist season.
It is an agreement amongst the Calvià Town Hall, the Fundación Calvià 2004, Spiral Sports Solutions Limited and Viajes Adramar S.A., for the development of a beach football tournament “Majorca Beach Sports Arena”, on the beach of Magaluf.
The celebration of the event is due to be held by the end of the month of May 2016 and will count on the participation of about 5.000 participants of different nationalities, most of them British, and which will mean a hotel stay average of between 6 and 7 nights, with an important economic impact.
The agreement has a noticeable deseasonlising and diversifying nature, with the aim of attracting new segments of demand and helping lenghthening the season, with the consequent improvement of the labour occupancy rates.
The event has, also, a charity aspect as part of the registrations will be aimed at an association which fights against prostate cancer.
Apart from the Mayor, the Town Hall's Director General for Tourism in representation of Fundación Calvià 2004, Jaume Nadal; Juan Sureda, in representation of Viajes Adramar; and Mark Jason Sellers, Juan Miguel Ignatius Desouza and Stephen Paul Redfern, as organisers of the event, have signed the agreement.
The Mayor of Calvià signed the agreeement after attending the presentation of the Balearic Islands as a sports destination which took place at the Balearic stand, carried out by the President Francina Armengol and the Vice president and Regional Minister for Innovation, Research and Tourism, Biel Barceló.
