The Local Police of Calvià starts up a new laser radar, one of the first compact speed control systems acquired by a police of the Balearic Islands. With a little more than a kilo of weight, the TruCam is an all in one laser radar approved for a static measurement with an operator.

It can be used either with a tripod or a fixed support from a motorbike or from inside a vehicle. Its small casing integrates the measuring system, the camera, the battery and the digital touch-screen, allowing its implementation in less than 5 seconds without additional wiring.

Its versatility and simplicity will allow traffic units to perform more efficient speed controls in the different public ways of the municipality, as it will be sufficient with a single agent, on foot or by vehicle. Thus, the new radar will allow to answer effectively to the citizens' requests for speed controls in sensitive areas of our municipality.

In order to create the Traffic Service and implement the use of the new equipment, the Local Police has organised a theoretical and practical course so two technicians from the supplier company could provide training to the agents of the municipality in the use and characteristics of the equipment. This course and practices to be scheduled shortly, will enable the agents to use it.
