The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has welcomed the newly appointed president of Unicef Baleares Committee, Mercedes del Pozo.

Calvià is an ALLIED MUNICIPALITY OF THE CAI PROGRAMME (Child Friendly Cities) that UNICEF promotes and encourages. Last year, the Calvià Town Hall signed the document by which it committed to carry out projects and actions that contribute to foster the participation of the citizenship, including children, in the adolescence and childhood local policies, thus building the alliances and networks with the different sectors of the society in favour of children, according to the principles and regulations of the Convention on the Children's Rights.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés; the Councillor delegate of Social Welfare and Senior Citizens, Mayte Albertí; the coordinator of the entity in the Balearics, Silvia Casanovas, and Javier Bustamante, member of Unicef-Baleares.
