Statement of the agreement in the municipal company to improve the working conditions of the staff

STATEMENT OF THE MUNICIPAL COMPANY OH!LIMPIA


Last 20th April the municipal company Oh!Limpia (Limpiezas (cleaning) Costa de Calvià S.A.), in charge of the cleaning and janitorial of the municipal buildings, reached an agreement with most of the members of the works council, in order to improve the working conditions of their workers.

On the one hand, the company has initiated the path for the equalisation of base payments, as the government team promised to the staff of Oh!Limpia. The salaries of the staff of the municipal company have been frozen for years, and below those currently applied in the sector's collective agreement, which has led to income gaps between employees performing the same jobs.

 

Thus, in 2016 it has been applied to the base salary the 1% increase allowed in the minimum-wage Law, compared with 0.5% established by the sector's collective agreement.


On the other hand, from April 2016, the workers will start to earn the seniority in the company in a form of trienniums, which had been frozen since 2012, and making a most favorable interpretation to the worker, it has been recognised the right of recovery since May 2015.

 

Finally, as it was announced to the staff of Oh!Limpia, it has been set a date to start talks for the negotiation of a new collective agreement of the company. It is to be recalled that the municipal company is the only one that does not have its own agreement. Pending revendication since the company's start-up.
