CALVIÀ TOWN HALL REQUIRES THE MAXIMUM INVOLVEMENT OF INSTITUTIONS AND BUSINESS SECTORS AFFECTED TO FOLLOW THE PATH INITIATED LAST SEASON TOWARDS A QUALITY TOURISM
It warns that it will ensure the compliance of the municipal ordinances and announces actions to achieve a better coexistence in leisure spaces
The Calvià Town Hall requires the maximum involvement of all sectors and competent administrations to continue the path begun towards a peaceful tourism, of quality and without excesses, and these results started to be seen last season, which marked a turning point.
This was stated by both, the Deputy Mayor of General Services and Security, Andreu Serra, and the Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Commerce and Urban Planning, Antonio García Moles, in the meeting held with representatives of bars, discoteques, nightclubs and 'table-dance', in which they transmitted that in order to have a good season, everyone has to get involved with the improvement of leisure areas. The game rules are the same for everybody -they said- and everybody is bound to comply them.
The Town Hall will not tolerate that certain leisure area- of Magaluf or any other area of the municipality, in which some believe that all is fair, calls into question an entire municipality that last year achieved a broad political, social and business consensus in eradicating the tourism of excesses, and that the path to this goal has already begun.
At the meeting, both Deputy Mayors informed that the consistory is carrying out actions on several fronts:
It is finalising an Activity and Business Inspection Plan which will ensure the strict compliance with the municipal ordinances.
It has developed the Promotion of the Coexistence in Calvià Ordinance -initially approved and which is at public exposure- that will give more legal certainty and more tools against the tourism of excesses and the crime around them.
As it did last season, it will increase the local police presence in trouble nightlife areas (Punta Ballena and Ramon de Montcada).
Leaflets have been developed with the hotel associations which will be distributed in hotels to inform tourists about the rules and warn them of the dangers that involve a tourism of excesses.
From the hand of the Regional Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations, and the City Halls of Palma and Llucmajor, it has been asked to the Government Delegate a greater staff of Civil Guards during the tourist season, and that does not simply limit -as happened last year- to replace the holidays of the usual effectives during the year.
It is informing the labour and health authority -the Regional Ministries of Employment and Health- of certain activities that are circulating on social networks and websites offering activities and 'job offers' of dubious legality.
The Calvià Town Hall wanted to make clear that it will not allow that the work that many are doing to improve the destination is put into question by the activity of a few that either are not involved, or whose commitment is only accomplished 'playing to the gallery'.
Also, the council wants to thank and acknowledge the work being done by entities and businesspeople to advance towards the improvement of specific points of our municipality, as a quality tourist destination.
Today's meeting was attended by responsibles of ACOTUR, ALOC, the Association of Discotheques and Night Clubs of the Balearics, the Association of Bars and Restaurants of Calvià and businesspeople of the sector.
