THE TOURISM FORUM OF CALVIÀ MEETS TO KNOW BOTH THE SURVEY ON THE SATISFACTION OF THE TOURISTS THAT HAVE VISITED CALVIÀ IN THE HIGH SEASON 2016 AND THE PROJECT SMART DESTINATION

The Tourism Forum of Calvià met today in the Town Hall to know the survey on the satisfaction of tourists who have visited Calvià in the high season 2016 carried out by the Institut Opinòmetre Balear. An introduction of the project Smart Destination and a talk by Rafael Ansón, president of the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy, titled La importancia de la gastronomía en el turismo (The importance of gastronomy in tourism) were also held at the meeting.
The Calvià Town Hall has commissioned a survey as a tool to evaluate the tourist season that now ends and be provided of the data to design the next one. The study provides information on many aspects related to the stay of the tourists in the different areas of the municipality ranging from their socio-demographic profile to the activities carried out in the place of stay, going through the estimate expenditure made and the satisfaction with the selected offer. The purpose of the survey, which has represented 1.200 face interviews conducted in July and August, is to know the level of satisfaction of visitors and tourists of Calvià. The survey is therefore a practical tool and exercise recommended to achieve a good management planning of the tourist offer in the municipality.
Rafael Ansón, president of the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy, has given a talk The importance of gastronomy in tourism in which he has highlighted the high quality of the Spanish gastronomy in the international secene explaining the evolution in culinary matters in the last decades. He noted as a key factor the cultural liberalisation in the culinary field from the point of view of both cooks and diners.
On the other hand, an introduction to the project Smart Destination has been made which the Town Hall is working on with the aim of unifying all the information of the municipality in an application that will gather aspects such as transport, security, cultural and gastronomic offer, accommodation information, etc.
In the Tourism Forum of Calvià are represented, besides the Town Hall and the municipal political groups, the Chamber of Commerce, the hotel associations of the municipality, associations, federations and business associations related to the sectors of trade, restoration, complementary offer, leisure and services with representation in the municipality of Calvià, the taxi association of Calvià, trade unions with greater representation in the municipality, neighborhood associations of the tourist areas or the Universitat de les Illes Balears, amongst other groups and entities.
