The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has congratulated the people and groups to whom have been given an acknowledgment, highlighting the importance of having a staff prepared and with a vocation to serve the citizenship for a municipality such as Calvià, and claiming the task carried out by the Local Police, "so that the neighbours are well aware of the great police they have." He thanked the work of the whole body that is working for the coexistence and security of our areas that is key for a tourist municipality such as Calvià, even collaborating with competencies that are not their own but are necessary to give a good service to the citizenship. The Mayor also referred to the new path that the Local Police of Calvià will soon start, with the implementation of the Community Police or the Gender Violence Unit. "I know that you will respond efficiently and effectively to the new challenge and that you will be the police of the people, one more reason to be proud of you. We are in good hands, "he added.

For his part, the Deputy Mayor for Security, Andreu Serra, made mention of the Plenary of the Town Hall in which, on the occasion of the approval of the medals, there was a talk of politics and security, whether to do politics or not. In this sense, it has defended the good policy, the policy that builds, as a necessary basis for making a Security Policy, against bad policy, the policy that in some moments puts the police in the focus causing a negative image towards the work of many. "This government team," he said, "will always defend the work, the professionalism and the honorability of all the police who leave every day to defend and protect us."

The Local Police Chief, Justino Trenas, has reviewed this year's organisational developments to lay the foundations for what will be the new police model: the approval of a new Organisational Decree that will allow a closer police; the agreement on the working conditions of police officers assigned to the new units; the one that has been called, for the first time, for the provision of jobs, based on the criteria of equality, merit and capacity; or the implementation of a system of review and standardisation of operational procedures to enhance the quality of the police work and provide legal security to both agents and citizens. He also highlighted the recent approval of the Ordinance on Coexistence which provides the Local Police with new tools that will help to make the deterrent effect more effective, regarding the prohibition of certain behaviours; the approval of a Municipal Inspection Plan, and the creation of an Activities Committee, in which in addition to the Local Police, the Municipal departments of Activities, Legal Services and Sanctions are integrated, which objective is the programming and monitoring of the aforementioned Inspection Plan.

On the other hand, he has detailed the results of the activity developed during the last summer campaign:

A total of 3,688 complaints have been made for violations of the Police and Good Government Ordinance, of which 2,158 have been for street vending, 800 for the activity of masseurs on the beach, 172 for practising street drinking and 106 for maintaining antisocial behaviour

In addition, 422 complaints have been filed for violations of the Sound Pollution Ordinance

Direct intervention has been carried out on 7,858 incidents, 1,211 of which have been motivated by public disorder, fighting or aggression.

Regarding our own exclusive competence in traffic, a total of 1,274 interventions have been performed and 42 people tested positive for alcohol while driving and 11 for having consumed drugs.

And lastly, 101 arrests have been made for criminal offenses of various kinds.

Finally, he highlighted the important task and the excellent work done by the inspectors and all the components of the different units and sections of the Local Police, as well as the close collaboration with the Civil Guard of Calvià.
