Calvià 2000 operates two electric vehicles for cleaning purposes and plans to incorporate another 10 in 2017 powered by this technology
-It has its own mechanical garage where it services about 170 vehicles
-Training courses are given in electric vehicles to operators
2017 will be the year in which the municipal company Calvià 2000 will start implementing the plan to replace obsolete vehicles in its fleet by vehicles powered by electric power.
At the end of this year, two new electric vehicles have been added to the fleet, one for cleaning Calvià Vila and the other to the hygiene of canine parks of the municipality. Electric blowers are also already operational, which have managed to eliminate the annoying noise of old diesel blowers, as well as the pollution they generated.
It will be throughout 2017 when the replacement of 10 light vehicles for electric cars will take place, specifically 5 vans and 5 cars. Among the new vehicles powered by electric power, there is a sweeper of 1 square metre.
The mechanical workshop of Calvià 2000 has already begun to prepare for servicing and repairing these engines. For this reason, the successful bidder of the first vehicles has provided 11 hours of training to 11 workers.
It should be remembered that Calvià 2000 has its own garage that attends about 170 vehicles, from crane trucks for the collection of pruning and furniture, to trucks that serve the area of the integral water cycle, and light vehicles, sweepers and normal passenger cars.
In this garage more than 30 people work in summer, and in its 900 square meters has a laundry for two vehicles, a pre-MOT zone, a maintenance area, a repair area and a large warehouse.
