THE CALVIÀ TOWN HALL AND THE CONSELL DE MALLORCA SIGN TWO AGREEMENTS IN MATTERS OF FIRE PREVENTION AND EXTINGUISHING AND RESCUE THAT NORMALISE THE PROVISION OF THE SERVICE IN THE MUNICIPALITY
The Calvià Town Hall and the Consell de Mallorca have signed two agreements in matters of fire prevention and extinguishing and rescue.
With the agreement signed between the Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal and the President of the insular institution, Miquel Ensenyat, the Town Hall entrusts the management of the Fire Prevention and Extinguishing and Rescue Service to the Consell so it will make an annual economic contribution that will respond to a percentage proportional to the population of the municipality (that with the municipal register of 2016 are 315,000 euros, approximately), to defray the cost of the fire service of the Consell.
The second agreement signed between the Mayor and the executive director of Desenvolupament Local (Local Development), Joan Font, involves the assignment of the plot and the building of the fire station of Santa Ponça for a period of 15 years extendable. With this assignment, a situation resulting from the lack of an agreement that covers the use of the land and the facilities is regularised.
The Mayor of Calvià has valued the signing of both agreements that will benefit the municipality. Alfonso Rodríguez Badal recalled that in the previous legislatures there were not such agreements, but Calvià Town Hall did not contribute any amount to the Consell and, in return, did not enter into the Works and Services Plan or the calls for financially sustainable investments of the Consell de Mallorca, so it did not receive any amount in this concept. With the current management delegation agreement, the Town Hall will make an annual economic contribution and will enter the calls for both the POS and sustainable investments, which the municipality in this legislature has already had access to 138,000 euros and 1 million euros, respectively.
For his part, the Deputy Mayor for General Services and Security, Andreu Serra, has pointed out that with the signing of these agreements it normalises the relationship between both administrations in the provision of the fire service of the fire station of Calvià, a commitment that also includes the introduction of improvements in the facilities.
