ANOTHER CLEAN-UP DAY AT MAGALUF'S WET LAND AREA
- A total of 1160 kilos of waste have been collected within this action.
A clean-up day of the Critical Biological Area (ABC) of Magaluf's wet land area has been carried out by the Department of Natural and Urban Environment of Calvià Town Hall with the collaboration of Red Cross and the Regional Ministry for Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries.
The objective of this initiative is to clean this area of special biological interest and raise public awareness on environmental protection issues related to the problem of waste. This cleaning action is framed within the European campaign "Let's Clean Up Europe 2017", a common action throughout Europe to raise awareness about the amount of waste that is thrown uncontrollably in the environment.
A total of 1160 kilos of waste have been collected within this action. The cleaning has been done with the collaboration of Red Cross volunteers and the staff of the Environment department, aware of the importance of cleaning waste in this area with endemic and protected species. Calvià 2000 has also collaborated in the cleaning day with the waste transport.
Within the European campaign, the Department of Natural and Urban Environment of Calvià Town Hall has carried out four clean-up actions so far this year and five more have been scheduled until June.
