Agreement with the Regional Ministry of Social Affairs of the Govern regarding the implementation of non-custodial measures for minors

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the regional minister of Social Affairs, Fina Santiago, have signed a collaboration agreement regarding the implementation of non-custodial measures for minors. With this agreement, the Town Hall is involved in the socio-educational care of minor offenders, to whom non-custodial judicial measures are applied, when they must be carried out within the municipality.

Thus, various departments of the Town Hall (IMEB, Youth, Senior Citizens Home of Calvià, Maintenance) coordinated by the Department of Social Development, Childhood and Senior Citizens, provide a number of places so that these minors living in the municipality can comply with the judicial measure, performing different tasks in Libraries, Nurseries, Youth Service, Senior Citizens Home of Calvià and Maintenance of sports centres.

As stated in the agreement, experience shows that the measures that are the subject of this collaboration usually have very positive effects as generators of a critical reflection process by the minors regarding their behaviour and assumption of the commitment to respect thrid-party legal assets.

On behalf of Calvià Town Hall, the agreement-signing event was attended by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, and the councillor for Social Development, Childhood and Senior Citizens, M. Carmen Rojano, as well as technical staff specialised in minors and those responsible for the municipal departments collaborating with this agreement.
