Calvià gives 325.000 euros and promises to increase aid frozen since 2021 to sports clubs
48 clubs have benefited. 90.000 euros go to collective sports that compete at the national level
Calvià Town Hall has given grants to the sport of the municipality for a value of 325.000 euros. These are subsidies for a total of 48 sports clubs corresponding to the period 2023-2024. The first line of aid consists of 235.000 euros for all sports, activities, events and sports programmes organised and recognised by each territorial federation, other recognised committees and by the Consell de Mallorca. The second, of 90.000 euros, has been allocated to collective sports clubs that have participated in national category competitions and that promote the municipality of Calvià.
The deputy mayor responsible for Sports, Javier Tascón, has justified the aid by considering that "it is necessary to support and promote the commendable work that the sports clubs of Calvià are carrying out." Tascón, before the representatives of the clubs, has announced the intention to work on the continuous improvement and adaptation of the sports facilities of the municipality.
On his behalf, Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual has promised to update the economic amount of the aid that has been frozen since 2021 “at least with the increase in the CPI” and to guarantee its continuity. He has proposed the clubs work together in a future campaign to promote "the culture of effort and the values of sport."
