The Mayor presents the first phase of the Strategic Plan of Action in the Historic- Artistic Heritage sites of the Galatzó Estate

19 Heritage sites are catalogued in Galatzó.

The Major of Calvià, Carlos Delgado , announced this morning that on the Galatzó Estate a Strategic Plan of Action would come into being , the ultimate goal is cataloguing, conservation, adaptation and awareness raising of the architectural heritage, archaeology and ethnographic state of the Estate.

During the first phase of the project which ran from March to December 2007, a total of 45 integrated units were catalogued in 19 heritage sites, four of which were archaeological sites and 15 were ethnographic sites.

The first phase consisted of four specific objectives:

  • Design methodology and Tools for cataloguing: The team that carried out the project has created a Heritage Management system( SIGP) which has allowed the documentation and study on five specific levels (area-route/ package/unit/elements of the units and accessories) as a model for recording and structuring information and proposed actions.

  • Cataloguing itineraries/ walking routes Ses Sinies and Sa Vinya: The SIGP was applied to the routes Ses Sínies and Sa Vinya as they were the routes that were being adapted as they were the routes most visited . On the Ses Sinies route 9 heritage sites were catalogued , one of which is an archaeological site and the rest are different types of ethnographic heritage . On the Sa Vinya route10 heritage sites have been documented , three of which are archaeological sites (one is not catalogued ) and the rest were different types of Ethnographic Heritage.

  • Initial stage of Recovery in the archaeological sites S'Argolla and Ses Sinies: Work was carried out by the Workshops "Taller Ocupacion Galatzó I " and taught by IFOC - Cleaning, Suitability and Signage of the two archaeological sites such as Ranxo de Carboneres.

  • Information on the Heritage sites: 26 informative signs have been put up in four languages ( Spanish, Catalan, English and German) . They are installed along the different routes

Finally it should be noted that the specific objectives of the second phase of the project , highlights the documentation of the elements that make up the historical and artistic heritage of the routes open to the public on the Galatzó Estate: The Ses Planes Route and the s' Esclop route; the cataloguing of the sites that are not included along the walking routes open to the public; the cataloguing of the archaeological heritage of the Estate and the recovery and adaption of the sites for the public use to Sa Vinya, Ses Sínies and Es Pinotells sites.
