Calvià allocates more than 3 million euros for architectural renovation work in Calvià vila and Es Capdellà

ARI of Calvià vila and Es Capdellà.

Revitalise the historical nuclei of Calvià vila and Es Capdellà and carry out architectural renovation work are the objectives sought by the government team of the Calvià Town Hall, who, yesterday, included the project to apply to the Government for a declaration of "area of complete renovation (Área de Rehabilitación Integral – ARI)" for the historical nuclei of both Calvià vila and Es Capdellà in their plenary session.

The municipality of Calvià, with its considerable goegraphic expansion, was formed by two historical nuclei: Calvià vila and Es Capdellà and various urban nuclei near the coast. Due to the “tourist boom” the two traditional agricultural areas were gradually left aside, whilst all major development and renovation took place by the coast. Amongst other projects, the “complete renovation (ARI)” was carried out in Son Ferrer, Santa Ponça, Galatzó, Peguera, Palmanova and Magaluf.

As a result of this, the government team of Calvià, during their plenary session of yesterday, included the project for declaring these zones “area of complete renovation (ARI)” as the Town hall realises that the revitalisation of these areas is necessary and should be put into action. The project intends to revitalise and renovate the historical nuclei of Calvià vila and Es Capdellà, improving services for the inhabitants of each area, restructuring the roads and redeveloping abandoned spaces.

The architectural renovation of houses is also planned. Therefore grants are being made available to encourage owners to undertake the renovation of their properties.

Therefore, yesterday, the Town Hall agreed upon the allocation of 1.850.000 euros of the municipal budget for the aid for renovation of houses, buildings and shop premises situated in the “areas of complete renovation” of the historical area of Calvià vila and a total of 1.250.000 euros for the same purpose in the historical area of Es Capdellà. It was a unanimous decision to apply to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works (Conselleria d'Habitatge i Obres Públiques) of the Balearic Government (Govern Balear) for the declaration of “area of complete renovation (ARI)” for both nuclei.
