- The main beaches will have services from 15th March to 30th November
- One of the season's novelties is the accessibility improvement
- New beacons have been incorporated in Cala Bendinat, Caló de sa Bella Dona and Cala Falcó
Calvià Town Hall is fulfilling its commitment to bring forward the start of the beach season. The 2025 season is getting off to a strong start, reaffirming the municipality as a benchmark for sustainable, accessible and quality tourism. This new season comes with significant improvements to beach services, reinforcing the Town Hall's commitment to a safer coastline adapted to the needs of both, residents and visitors.
The municipality's main beaches - Santa Ponça, Torà, Palmira and the three beaches in Palmanova - began operating on 15th March and will remain in operation until 30th November. One of the main novelties of the season is the Town Hall's commitment to increasing accessibility elements. This year, the number of materials for people with reduced mobility has increased significantly with the addition of new amphibious chairs (going from 10 in 2023 to 19 in 2025), walking frames (from 7 to 14) and other support elements such as amphibious crutches, as well as the installation of shaded areas with awnings and parasols. These areas are present on beaches such as Oratori, es Carregador, Palmanova, Son Maties, Magaluf, ses Penyes Rotges, Santa Ponça, Romana, Torà and Palmira, in addition to the new incorporations in Portals Nous and Cala Vinyes.
Calvià beaches continue to focus on quality. It is expected that in 2025, Calvià beaches will once again be recognised as the best on the islands in terms of the quality of services. In the latest call, Calvià topped the list of beaches with the best services in the Balearic Islands according to the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE), having obtained 15 Q quality flags, thus making it the first municipality in the archipelago and the third in Spain with the most distinctions. The procedures to qualify for a Q flag involve passing an independent audit that certifies compliance with the highest standards of quality, sustainability and safety.
The reactive lifeguard service - beach personnel who are not specifically dedicated to lifeguard tasks but who have the status of auxiliary resource - is provided with the necessary personnel depending on the season and the classified risk of each beach. They may be required or provide support in cases where necessary within the public service's surveillance mandatory hours. Furthermore, outside mandatory lifeguard hours, if the service remains operational and if necessary, this auxiliary resource must provide first aid to beach users while emergency services arrive.
Calvià's beach regulations also include a series of measures for the proper functioning of the cleaning service. The concessionaires are responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the sand, showers, public toilets, and street furniture, following hygiene and health protocols. Waste separation systems are maintained to ensure clean and environmentally friendly beaches.
Furthermore, the awarded companies must install, monitor, and maintain the beaconing of bathing areas to ensure the bathers' safety from boats. They must also install, monitor, and maintain pedal boat, paddle surf, and canoe/kayak rental services, as well as towed water activities (parachute skiing, banana boating, or similar, etc.).
Calvià beaches concessionaires have certificates such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, ISO 45001 for Management and Safety at Work, UNE 17001 for Universal Accessibility, and Sustainable Restoration Certification.
