The data confirm the change in Calvià tourism from quantity to quality.

  • Calvià increases the luxury hotel offer and opens up to new source markets
  • In 2025, three new 5-star hotels will open in Punta Negra, Santa Ponça and Peguera
  • Visits from American, Australian and South Korean tourists increase
  • The number of hotel beds open in winter grows by 20 percent
  • The price of an overnight stay rises by 11 percent

Calvià is moving towards a reorganisation of the tourism model that focuses on quality, the diversification of source markets and the breaking of the summer seasonality curve. The tourism policy promoted by the Town Hall goes hand in hand with private investments that have detected interest in the municipality amongst high-spending clients coming, increasingly, from new source markets.

The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, explained that "our commitment is to continue offering the best in Calvià without renouncing the sun and beach that have worked so well for us, but betting on the diversification of the clients visiting us in order to attract high-spending tourism throughout the year."

Although the two main groups of tourists by nationality continue to be the British (37.2 percent) and the Germans (34.7 percent), national tourism is gaining ground (7 percent on average) and is consolidating in areas such as Palmanova-Magaluf where it is close to 34 percent. Throughout 2024, an upward trend has been detected in visitors from the United States, Australia and South Korea, tourists who demand high-level accommodation, offers and services and who are concentrated in the areas of Bendinat, Portals Nous and Illetes.

In this sense, it has been confirmed that the average price of an overnight stay has increased by almost 11 percent to around 200 euros per night. The municipality has 51.330 hotel beds in 3 to 5 star hotels, with 4 and 5 star hotels being the most numerous, since they account for 80 percent of the total. In the winter of 2024-2025, 24 hotel establishments with more than 3.300 hotel beds available remain open.

Throughout 2025, international chains with 5-star luxury offers will settle in Calvià. The German group Aethos will transform the Mar i Pins in Peguera into a 5-star hotel. Blasson Property Investments is committed to a reconversion and will open the doors of the Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra —focused on the US market— in the second quarter of the year. The Club Santa Ponça hotel is also undergoing renovations and improvements and will be renamed Purobeach Resort Santa Ponsa by the Puro Group chain. This will increase the number of 5-star hotels in the municipality from 14 to 17.

Furthermore, the Grupo Pajarita, renowned for its excellence in catering, is announcing the opening of two new restaurants in Palmanova for April-May 2025, consolidating its presence in Calvià. The new premises will be located, one facing the sea, on the corner of Paseo del Mar and Avenida de la Playa, and the other on the first line of Paseo de Palmanova next to the Hotel Santa Lucía. The company has already established itself as a benchmark in the local gastronomic sector, with well-known establishments such as Siso Beach, Barbuda Beach, Iroko and Bondi Beach, all of which are benchmarks in the area for their culinary offerings and high-quality service.
