The IFOC launches two new employment training projects
On 2nd November, Calvià Town Hall, via the Calvià Institute of Training and Employment (IFOC), will launch two new employment training projects, approved by the Ministry of Employment. One part consists of the fourth edition of the Galatzó Employment Workshop, whose objective is to train people in the maintenance of buildings and restoration of heritage speciality, and the other part is the beginning of a new project, aimed at the young people of the municipality - the Trade Centre: Maintenance of Sports Installations.
These projects, which each last one year, are aimed at people who are experiencing difficulties finding employment, and wish to learn or perfect a trade, whilst at the same time, providing a service beneficial to the community.
In the Employment Workshop, aimed at over 25's, the students/workers are contracted by Calvià Town Hall, from the first day, and make use of some very practical training, on the Galatzó country estate, which they help to maintain and prepare for recreational use, whilst protecting the environment, for both the Calvià residents and the numerous tourists who visit the municipality.
On the other hand, the Trade Centre is aimed at youngsters aged between 16 & 24. During the first phase they are trained in electrical maintenance, plumbing, painting, etc., and then for the second phase they sign a training contract for 6 months with Calvià Town Hall.
Calvià's unemployed, who may be interested in taking part in these new projects, should contact the IFOC for information regarding application and available places.
