Is the only municipality in the Balearic Islands which has achieved this “EFR municipio” award from the Foundation Másfamilia, given to those corporations who have as main objective, equal opportunities and family responsability

Calvià, committed with conciliation and equality.

 

The Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado, has received, from Roberto Martínez, the Foundation Másfamilia director, the "EFR certificate", for his commitment in the family conciliation, equality and responsability and for having as main objectives the local community´s welfare and its cultural, social and economic development.


Calvià, therefore, becomes the only municipality in the Balearic community who has achieved this award as well as other five local corporations in Spain: Salamanca, Granada, Palencia, Pozuelo de Alarcón and Ribadeo.


The Foundation Másfamilia is a private, non-profit entity, which was set up in 2003 for the family protection, defense and promotion and, especially, for those with dependent people (young, old, disabled, etc.) within their family. Said entity has launched the "EFR municipio" management model with the aim of incentiving the local corporations in order to give a boost, support and help for conciliation, family responsability and equal opportunities, for: citizens, companies and employees. All this is for, the contribution of a more modern, fair and with a higher welfare, happiness and life quality quotas, society.


Calvià Town Hall, has developed various measures to improve the citizens quality of life and balance. Among said measures, the most important are highlighted below:


  • The on-line management development for the Town Hall´s administrative services which permit save users time.

  • Better access to IFOC services, through its web page www.ifoc.es.

  • Free extraschool activities to favour conciliation.

  • Nurseries open all year with an adapted schedule.

  • Extra support educational programmes.

  • Subventioned school transportation.

  • Free school books.

  • Subventions for adoptions.

  • Educational Workshops for parents which include nursery service.

  • Selfhelp groups with nursery service for women with non shared heavy family burdens.

  • Bonifications and disccounts for big families.

  • Support groups for families with disabled people and elderly dependent people within their family.

  • Youth classroom.

  • Adapted transportation service.

  • Job workshops, among others.



Among the company procedures it is to highlight the following:


  • The Innova prizes.

  • Help to companies in their human resources management.

  • Collaboration through learning contracts.


Calvià also has a wide catalogue of measures addressed to municipal employees such as:

 

  • Fatherhood permit extension.
  • Schedule flexibility.

  • Medical, welfare and health assistance.

  • Nursery service for employees, amongst others.


All these measures, as well as the consecution of the determined objectives on a long or short term, were presented to Foundation Másfamilia and later audited by AENOR which made a favorable certificate giving to Calvià Town Hall the use of the EFR certificate for a period of two years with the condition of maintaining the requirements which have made the obtention of this quality distinctive.


In the design of the "EFR municipio" model and in its subsequent establishment and adaptation in the municipalities , the Foundation Másfamilia counts with the Banesto and Adecco Foundations as sponsorships; with the collaboration of FEMP and Cuatrecasas entities; with the certification entity AENOR and with the Tatum, Gestor, Teis and Novotec consultants. Finally, it is to highlight that the entity has also awarded with "EFR empresa" certificates, to 200 companies and pymes (small and medium-sized enterprises), who have a high compromise level with conciliation, equality and family responsibility.
