The Town Hall has given grants for fertilizers and food and has introduced for the first time, new grants for the purchase of trees and their plantation
The Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado and the Deputy Mayor for Rural World, Bartolomé Bonafé, have given the grants to both, farmers and rustic estate tenants for the purchase of fertilizers and food for sheep and goat species as well as for the purchase of trees and their plantation.
This year, the grants given have risen to 28.800 euros and for the first time, grants have also been given for the purchase of trees and their plantation as the Town Hall´s aim, is to encourage and recover the traditional cultivation, such as the almond tree, the carob tree, the olive tree or fruit trees as well as to promote the fight against the climate change, as trees, absorb carbon dioxide and avoid the greenhouse effect.
Therefore, nine grants have been given for the purchase of trees and their plantation; 17 for feed and animal food and 67 for fertilizers.These grants have been given since 2004 because of an electoral promise obtained by the Mayor, Carlos Delgado.
