Another coast line cleaning action, from the “Calvià for the Climate office”, in collaboration ,this time, with the Balearic Navigators Foundation

 Calvià Town Hall, in collaboration with the Balearic Navigators Foundation, has carried out, another cleaning action in the municipality´s coast line. This time, the elected area was Cala Figuera, which access is not able by a non existing footpath, therefore being a beach, without an ordinary municipal cleaning service. In total, about 900 kilos of rubbish have been removed within the two cleaning sessions.


Once the cleaning sessions were completed, the 15 volunteers from the Balearic Young Navigators Foundation, in collaboration, with a civil defence vessel, removed, the waste materials taken out from under the sea to an area where the Calvià 2000, waste materials collection service, has access and which will give an adequate treatment, to mentioned waste materials, after its collection.

Two representatives from the Thomas Cook tour operator, were also present on Wednesday´s session, first-hand interested, in the actions carried out by the “Calvià for the climate” office.


The deep sea cleaning programme which is promoted by the Calvià for the Climate office, has as main objective, two annual cleaning sessions. One, before the high tourist season and the other one, after, in order to alleviate any possible environmental damage and to improve its tourist attractiveness. Four cleaning sessions have been organized, on the municipality beaches, since the creation of the “Calvià for the Climate” office, with a total sum of, more than nine tons of residues collected.
