The best up-and-coming talents of the European and Balearic tennis get together in Palma Nova, until the following Sunday, in an event organized by the Guillermo Vilas Academy
The Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado, together with the Deputy Mayor for Sports, Manolo Grillé; the manager for the Calvian Sport Institute (ICE), Manuel Onieva and the Foundation Calvià 2004 secretary, Jaime Martínez, attended last Thursday, the U-16 International Tennis Tournament which is taking place since last Saturday, at the Guillermo Vilas Academy in Palma Nova and which gets together the best up-and-coming talents of the European and Balearic tennis.
Both, Calvià Town Hall and Foundation Calvià 2004 promote mentioned sport event within the Town Hall´s sport promotion, organization and collaboration with sport events which contribute to the municipality´s tourist development, nation and internationalwide, favouring the tourist season throughout the year and the quality of the Calvià´s tourist product.
It is to be mentioned that the competition´s qualification charts consisted of 64 players for boys and 64 for girls plus 32+32 for the final charts which started on Tuesday. With the contribution of the ball boys in the semi final and final matches and a radar to measure the service speed, the tournament counts with the participation of players from 20 different countries (Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Mexico, Great Britain, Russia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Serbia, Turkey, Sweden, Lithuania, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Poland, Greece, Switzerland and The Czech Republic).
