From the 88 proposals presented in the ideas contest, to create an Archaeological Museum in el Puig de sa Morisca, the proposal "Escletxa", wins the first prize.
The Calvià Town Hall continues with its commitment with the organization of specific events which dynamize the tourist sector throughout the year. But furthermore, the organization of this kind of activities, combines with the creation of new products which offer a wide and complete cultural, sports and recreational offer. The creation of an Archaeological Museum in el Puig de sa Morisca, is framed within this workline, which contest of ideas, announced by Foundation Calvià, has now a winning project.
In total, 88 have been the proposals presented, coming from Spain, France and Italy, in between other countries, for the ideas contest announced as a preliminary plan matter, to choose the best proposal. The first prize, of 12.500 euros, has gone to, “Escletxa”, the architect Ramón Casanelles Massaguer´s proposal.
The jury came to the conclusion, at the end of September, that this proposal was sensitive with the plant and landscape environment and that the access to both, park and building was clear and precise. Also, the jury assessed the programme´s organizative simplicity and, particularly, the exhibition room presented as a box of light, which allows various ways of presenting activities.
The future archaeological museum pretends to become a reference in the municipality´s archaeological heritage spreading. Therefore, it won´t be an isolated building but will take part from the stated archaeological park, which, by its planning philosophy and by its museum proposal, will present from its start a very intense relation between the park, its cultural, recreational and educational offer and the public.
Finally, it is to be reminded that within this tourist seasonal diversification plan, it is also included the Costa d'en Blanes-Portals Nous C1 plot Equipment Basic Plan, to start putting into viability the Complete Restoration Project of the tourist areas in Calvià, to which the autonomic and central administrations, continue to ignore, despite the Town Hall and the Hotelier Associations in the municipality´s petitions.
The Equipment Basic Plan will include, in between other actions, a Contemporary Art Museum, a representative building which will avoid an absence in the Mallorca tourist and cultural offer.
