The Citizen and Tourist Defender in Calvià, Francisca Mascaró, has presented the annual actions report which within the exercise of her duties, she developed during 2010.

The Citizen and Tourist Defender in Calvià, Francisca Mascaró, has presented in the Calvià Town Hall´s plenary session, carried out this morning, the annual actions report which within the exercise of her duties, she developed during 2010. Francisca Mascaró also wanted to thank the support received by the different groups with municipal representation as well as all areas, departments and municipal companies.

According to the statistical figures included in the report, in 2010, the Citizen Defender proceeded a total of 87 files from which 43 were accepted.

The main requests made by neighbours and citizens are framed within the “Tax collection” group, followed by the “Advice and mediation” and "Quality of life defence".

By locations, the residents in Santa Ponça have been the ones who have presented more complaints, with a 22% of the total, followed by the residents in Palma Nova with a 11,5%. Although this 30% seems to be a high porcentage, it is to be mentioned that, a 21% of the total population in the municipality of Calvià, live in Santa Ponça. By nationalities, the Spanish complaints, with a 67,8% have the highest rate, followed by the English, representing a 6,9% and the German with a 5,74%, superior rates, compared with the rest of nationalities.

By age, it is to be mentioned that minors have not presented any complaint to the Defender whereas the elderly (more than 60 years old) followed by the age range between 41 and 60 years old are the ones who have presented more complaints. Finally, it is to be highlighted that there is no important difference between both sexes when they present their complaints to the Office. May was the month with more complaints presented, with the 11,5% of the total, followed by the months of April and October, with the 10,34%.
