The beneficiaries of the course are unemployed people who from the first day are under contract by the Town Hall and have the opportunity to receive a work formation.
The Calvià Town Hall´s plenary hall has been once more the scenery chosen to hold the closing ceremony of the Galatzó Employment Workshop, which has counted with the participation of 16 pupils who have been formed in the agricultural speciality as well as in the maintenance of buildings and rustic stone walls.
The recipients of this project, of one year of duration, are unemployed people who are interested in learning or improving a trade at the same time as they are giving a service in benefit of the community. These pupils-workers are, from the first day, under contract by the Calvià Town Hall and they have the opportunity to have a practical training which allows them to specialize in a wide range of professions.
The occupational workshop Galatzó V which now finishes, started last year with the participation of 16 people who were formed in the agricultural and livestock speciality, in the refurbishment of buildings and in the construction of rustic stone walls, carrying out refurbishment works at the Galatzó Public Estate, such as the improvement of walk paths and walls as well as the cleaning and the recovering of ethnological and archaeological elements.
393.000 euros, contributed mostly by the SOIB, (Service of Employment|Occupation of the Balearic Islands), in collaboration with the Calvià Town Hall and the IFOC, has been the total amount assigned to the Occupational Workshop in 2011.
The event has counted with the presence of the Balearic Government´s Regional Minister for Education and Formation, Rafel Bosch, the Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, the President of the IFOC, Esperanza Català, also of the intitution´s Manager and the workshop teachers.
